چکیده

Marine sponges are exceptionally prolific sources of natural products for the discovery and development new drugs. Until now, have contributed around 30% all metabolites isolated from marine environment. Family Latrunculiidae Topsent, 1922 (class Demospongiae Sollas, 1885, order Poecilosclerida 1928) is a small sponge family comprising seven genera. Latrunculid recognized as major reservoirs diverse types pyrroloiminoquinone-type alkaloids, with myriad biological activities, in particular, cytotoxicity, fuelling their exploration anticancer drug discovery. Almost 100 pyrroloiminoquinone alkaloids structurally related compounds been reported Latrunculiidae. The systematics latrunculid has had complex history, however it now well understood. provided important chemotaxonomic characters this family. to contain other metabolites, such peptides (callipeltins), norditerpenes norsesterpenes (trunculins) macrolides (latrunculins), however, containing latrunculins trunculins transferred families. This review highlights comprehensive literature survey spanning first chemical investigation New Zealand Latrunculia sp. 1986 until August 2020, focusing on diversity activities secondary biosynthetic (microbial) origin taxonomic significance also discussed.

Keeping it in the family: Coevolution of latrunculid sponges and their dominant bacterial symbionts

The Latrunculiidae are a family of cold water sponges known for their production of bioactive pyrroloiminoquinone alkaloids. Previously it was shown that the bacterial community associated with a Tsitsikamma sponge species comprises unusual bacterial taxa and is dominated by a novel Betaproteobacterium. Here, we have characterized the bacterial communities associated with six latrunculid specie...

Polycyclic Guanidine Alkaloids from Poecilosclerida Marine Sponges

Sessile marine sponges provide an abundance of unique and diversified scaffolds. In particular, marine guanidine alkaloids display a very wide range of biological applications. A large number of cyclic guanidine alkaloids, including crambines, crambescins, crambescidins, batzelladines or netamins have been isolated from Poecilosclerida marine sponges. In this review, we will explore the chemodi...

Lipophilic exudates of Pteridaceae - chemistry and chemotaxonomy.

A number of fern species, belonging to several genera of Pteridaceae, exhibit a more or less conspicuous farinose wax, which is mostly located on the lower leaf surface. Production of these waxes is often correlated with the presence of glandular trichomes. Particularly during the past two decades, a series of publications appeared on the chemical composition of these exudates. The major compon...

The Chemistry and Biological Activity of Platensimycin

Hospital mortalities from multidrug-resistant bacteria have grown in recent years. Multidrugresistant bacteria are becoming a major public health crisis because the antibiotics that exist today are no longer effective in all cases. Drugs, like vancomycin, which were once last-resort treatments are quickly becoming a first-line defense because the over-prescription of antibiotics is allowing for...

Reactivity and biological activity of the marine sesquiterpene hydroquinone avarol and related compounds from sponges of the order Dictyoceratida.

A review of results of bioactivity and reactivity examinations of marine sesquiterpene (hydro)quinones is presented. The article is focused mostly on friedo- rearranged drimane structural types, isolated from sponges of the order Dictyoceratida. Examples of structural correlations are outlined. Available results on the mechanism of redox processes and examinations of chemo- and regioselectivity...
